0. What changed in this revision
Tier limits added as real numbers. Zero-commission stated with its payment-provider caveat and used to separate route 2 from route 3. Route 3 now says openly that the platform is hosted and licensed for the duration of the subscription — no ownership implied. Price comparison anchored only on the €249–260 tools.
1. What this page is for, and what it must not do
The searcher is earlier in the funnel than the comparison page's reader. They do not yet know whether their project costs €5,000 or €150,000, and they are trying to find out before talking to anyone.
That has one consequence that decides whether this page works: it must answer the question honestly, including where the answer is "more than what I sell you". A cost page that concludes "and the answer is my product, at €99/month" is a sales page in disguise, and readers at this stage recognise it instantly. They leave, and the page teaches Google it does not satisfy the query.
So the page gives real figures for all four routes and states plainly when each one is right. The conversion comes from being the only page that was straight with them.
Second reason it earns its place: it is the natural home for the setup fee. On the home page, €500 is an objection. Here, inside a market where custom builds start at €80,000, it is evidence of restraint.
2. The cost landscape (figures verified during research)
| Route | Upfront | Recurring | Time to launch | Honest verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Custom development | €80,000–300,000 | ~€100/mo hosting + dev team | 9–18 months | Right only when the technology is the business |
| No-code builder | €0–5,000 | ~€83–249/mo + commission per transaction | Days to weeks | Right for testing an idea before committing |
| Ready-made, delivered customised | From €500 setup | €99–249/mo, hosting and maintenance included, no commission | 2–4 weeks | Right when the concept is validated and you want to operate, not build |
| Concierge / manual | €0 | €0 | Immediate | Right when matching can still be done by hand |
All third-party amounts carry the indicative-pricing disclaimer.
The insight to build the page around: the market is not a price gradient, it is four different decisions. Most people searching this query think they are asking "how much" when they are really asking "which route".

Short answer
You came for a number, so here it is before anything else. Custom development starts around €80,000 and often passes €300,000, over 9 to 18 months. A no-code builder costs between €83 and €249 per month plus a commission on every transaction, and you are live within days. A ready-made platform delivered customised means a setup fee from €500, then €99 to €249 per month depending on usage, live in 2 to 4 weeks. Doing the work by hand costs nothing. Those four figures do not describe four levels of quality — they describe four different decisions.
Route 3
Between the two extremes sits the already-built platform delivered to you customised. Concretely: a setup fee from €500, then a monthly subscription based on your usage. Starter at €99/month covers up to 1,000 visitors per month and 50 active vendors or providers; Growth at €149/month goes up to 10,000 visitors and 250 vendors; Scale at €249/month reaches 50,000 visitors and 1,000 vendors; beyond that it is on quote, with unlimited vendors. The features are identical across all tiers — only the usage limits change. Hosting, database and maintenance are included, and none of these tiers takes a commission on your transactions. Let us be clear about the model: the platform is hosted and maintained by the provider, and it is yours to use for as long as you subscribe — with your own instance, your own data and your own domain.
Route 4
Here is the advice that earns nobody anything. If your concept is mostly about matching people, and you can do that matching yourself by phone or email, do not pay for anything yet. A spreadsheet and manual work are enough to find out whether people actually want your service. Several marketplaces running today started exactly that way. Buy a platform when the manual work becomes the bottleneck — not before. You will lose less money waiting than automating demand that does not exist.
The six forgotten costs
The price of a platform is almost never the price you pay. Six items arrive after signature and nobody announces them: hosting, the database, corrective maintenance, GDPR compliance, transactional email, and security updates. Added up, they routinely come to several hundred euros a month, or the equivalent in your own time if you carry them yourself. When comparing two quotes, the only question that matters is which of the two includes those six lines. A €99 subscription with everything included and a €99 subscription excluding hosting are not the same product.
Commission
There is a seventh item, and it is the most insidious because it is invisible at the start: the commission on each transaction. Most builders take one on top of the subscription. While your volume is low, you do not feel it. The moment your platform works, it becomes a tax on your growth. Run the numbers before signing: at €20,000 of monthly transactions, even a modest percentage far exceeds the gap between two subscriptions. Above all, check whether the percentage is added to the subscription or replaces it: plenty of platforms charge both at once. On the subscription plans described here, no commission is taken: you keep 100% of your transactions, minus only your payment provider's own fees — those fees exist everywhere, whichever solution you choose.

Korte antwoord

Same three notes as the other page: relative links only, footer rather than a nav slot, and add the three language URLs to the pre-render list and sitemap.
One deliberate omission: no pricing estimator embedded here, and no early CTA. A research-stage reader pushed to a form in the second paragraph leaves. The CTA belongs at the end, after the page has been useful.
5. Status and remaining flags
5.1 Tier limits — RESOLVED, action for Alex
Real numbers now in route 3. Same handoff item as the comparison page: the tier cards on the home page still describe themselves as traffic-indexed without stating any number. Publishing precise thresholds on two new pages while the pricing grid stays vague creates an inconsistency exactly where prospects compare. The numbers belong on the cards too, in three languages — after which the structured data picks them up automatically.
5.2 Commission — RESOLVED, then extended on 2026-08-01
A new H2 — « Abonnement fixe ou pourcentage : les deux façons de payer » / "Fixed subscription or percentage: the two ways to pay" / "Vast abonnement of percentage: de twee manieren om te betalen" — is to be inserted after the existing commission section. It carries the pricing-model keywords in natural prose. Copy for the three languages is in the pay-as-you-grow file, §4. This page, not the pricing card, is where the "pay per transaction" and "sans abonnement fixe" queries can realistically rank — a card holds three lines and will not compete.
No rate figure appears in that section, per the client's decision: the tipping-point calculation I had drafted was removed, since it cannot be written without a percentage. The intent lives in the model rather than the number, so the ranking is unaffected.
The commission wording on this page is now scoped to the subscription plans in all three languages, with the mutual-exclusivity check ("does the percentage replace the subscription or add to it?") turned into buyer advice — useful to any reader comparing vendors, and true of this product.
5.2b Commission caveat — original note
Used as a dedicated section on this page, because on a cost page a growth-indexed fee is the single most useful thing a research-stage reader can learn. The payment-provider caveat is attached in all three languages, and no percentage is quoted.
5.3 Ownership — RESOLVED
Route 3 states the hosted licence model openly rather than leaving it implicit. No ownership, no exit path, no source-code claim on this page.
5.4 Price anchoring — RESOLVED
No claim of being cheaper than Sharetribe anywhere. Comparison rests on custom-build scale and on the commission structure, which are both genuine.
5.5 Still open — setup ceiling
Copy says "from €500, up to €1,500 depending on complexity", matching the pricing data. This one was not among the four answers. Confirm €1,500 is a real ceiling and not just a display maximum — "up to" commits you to it, and on a cost page that is the sentence a prospect quotes back.
5.6 Still open, low priority — the €5,000–25,000 range
Research surfaced a widely quoted "white-label marketplace: €5,000–25,000 upfront" figure. I left it out deliberately: against it, a €500 setup fee looks implausibly cheap and invites the reader to assume something is missing. Available if you want it as a favourable anchor.
